Spring Arbor Senior Living’s Cottage Program Focuses On Well-Being

Since 1991, Spring Arbor Senior Living has provided seniors suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease or other forms of dementia with world-class care through our Cottage program. The Cottage program is a unique memory care neighborhood designed around the well-being of our residents. Spring Arbor Cottages offer a host of signature programs and activities designed to boost mental, spiritual and physical well-being. Listed below are a few examples we believe are making a difference in the lives of our residents.

Art from the Heart

Art from the Heart is an art program providing a creative outlet for residents regardless of their physical or cognitive abilities. Spring Arbor encourages self-expression through various art mediums. Studies from the Memory and Aging Center at the University of California, San Francisco have shown that as dementia begins to take hold, our ability to communicate verbally is diminished. Art allows those individuals to express themselves in a non-verbal manner. Each of our communities features an Art from the Heart gallery, which we invite you to explore on your visit.

Hearts and Harmony

Music is the universal language. With Hearts & Harmony, residents can be transported to another time and place through song. Music is made fun with programs like SingFit®, which encourages movement and stimulates the mind through trivia and various themes. Music has also been shown to alleviate stress which has numerous wellness benefits. Certified Music Therapists regularly visit our communities to lead interactive programs for our residents.

Wise & Well®

Spring Arbor’s signature Wise & Well® program empowers and challenges residents to focus on proactive measures to build strength, maintain balance and increase mental agility. Wise & Well® includes senior fitness programs focusing on physical strengthening, flexibility and endurance, group fitness classes, mind and body classes, brain fitness, and wellness events. Wise & Well® sessions take place 2-3 times a week in our Cottage program.
