At HHHunt, we believe it’s how you live that matters and our team of professionals is consistently pursuing new opportunities for our company to fulfill its Vision to “improve the world and how people live by creating meaningful experiences and places of great distinction.” Last week we sat down with Tom Hudson, Vice-President of Land Acquisition. Based in the Washington, DC area, Tom oversees the new consolidated Land Acquisition team which is responsible for finding new opportunities for our new homes and apartment living divisions.
Here is what Tom had to say about his new role and team:
Tell us a little bit about yourself and why you decided to join HHHunt.
I’m a Florida-native but settled in the Washington, DC/Baltimore region after earning my MBA from the University of Maryland in 1994. For the past 25 years, I’ve worked for several land developers and national home builders and in 2015 I received the Maryland Building Industry Association (“MBIA”) President’s Award.
I was drawn to HHHunt for several reasons. First, each of the company’s Brand Promises and Values are something that I personally subscribe to as a professional. I love the fact that we are encouraged to be forward thinking, customer focused, and an engaged community partner. Second, HHHunt has done an incredible job over the past 53 years of growing a diversified portfolio of business lines such as apartment living and new home communities. Finally, the fact that 90 percent of all revenue goes back to reinvesting in the company is unique within the real estate industry and demonstrates how HHHunt is committed to growing organically.
What is the role of the Land Acquisition team?
We are responsible for sourcing and providing HHHunt Homes and HHHunt Apartment Living with a sustainable pipeline of new development sites throughout the Mid-Atlantic region from South Carolina through Maryland. HHHunt Communities focuses on master-planned community development in Central Virginia and Hampton Roads regions.
Tell us a little bit about your team’s experience doing this type of work.
The Land Acquisition team consists of professionals with over 50 years of combined experience in this industry. It includes:
Adam Cornelius, Land Acquisition Manager: Adam has multiple years of land acquisition experience with both regional and national homebuilders and is experienced with sourcing new land acquisition opportunities, evaluating market demand, performing due diligence, and working collaboratively with other team members to underwrite deals. His constant focus is on maintaining a pipeline of projects to support home building construction volume targets.
Kyle Burns, Land Acquisition Manager: Kyle has cross discipline experience across multiple markets, specifically retail and office users. He is experienced with sourcing land acquisition opportunities in the Richmond market both for regional builders and for master planned communities.
Jo Locicero, Market Analyst: Jo provides up to date market statistics and analysis for apartment living. Her experience includes market level supply and demand analysis, demand derivation to pinpoint submarkets and regions that are attractive for new land acquisition.
Where, geographically, are you focused on growing HHHunt’s footprint?
We are targeting new opportunities across the Mid-Atlantic states from Maryland through South Carolina. We are also looking at new opportunities in major urban centers like Atlanta and Nashville.
At HHHunt, we believe it’s how you live that matters. What does that mean to you?
Simply put, finding locations that provide a unique value proposition to our homeowners and residents. Every community we undertake will be a point of pride for our team members, both now and in the long-term future.
HHHunt is here for every stage of life, be it college students and families, we want to develop homes that resonate with every demographic.
